Mum gives birth on M4 motorway – sold to Sunday Mirror

Real life story of how mum gave birth in the fast lane in SUNDAY MIRROR newspaper yesterday.

When Charlotte emailed me at Featureworld.co.uk and told me how she’d given birth on the fast lane of the motorway, I knew instantly it was a story a newspaper would love.
And Charlotte’s real life story – about how she gave birth on the passenger seat as her husband sped her to hospital – certainly made a welcome break from all the election news around this weekend!
Charlotte’s previous labours with her three older children were all fast – so she and Richard knew they didn’t have lots of time to spare. However, they simply did not expect that Ignatius would choose to arrive as they dropped the children at a birthday party.
Within five minutes of deciding Charlotte was in labour, the couple dropped their eldest at Charlotte’s sister’s and headed for the hospital.
They still thought they’d easily make the 30-minute journey. But as they joined the M4 Charlotte began to give birth. Husband Richard sped up in the fast lane and was so busy concentrating on driving he did not realise their baby had been born in the footwell. Charlotte didn’t even manage to get her seatbelt off. However, as you can see from the photo in the Sunday Mirror, everyone is well. And now the family have a lovely cutting to show Ignatius when he gets older.

I have been saying recently how happy stories are very saleable. This story seems to show that well. So if you have a happy, inspiring story to sell then do contact me – and do look at my website to see other inspiring stories… here
