Out of all the possible Royal Jubilee souvenirs and momentos to be had, who knew it’d be Royal Gnomes that would be the most sought after… No, seriously?
Royal Gnomes have arrived at B&Q via their own flotilla.
This week the gnome invasion reaches critical mass at B&Q as a limited number of Royal Gnomes, complete with crown and traditional cape (her) and red military blazer (him), hit the shelves in readiness for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Demand for the cheery gnomes is growing and growing, with customers requesting their names be put on a waiting list, but they’ve been told that availability will be on a first come first served basis.
Gurinder Jellehwallia, Category Trading Manager at B&Q said: “If ever there was a year to celebrate Britishness and our sense of humour 2012 is the year. We expect our Royal gnomes to go down an absolute storm. We’ve already had requests for them from customers who have seen them in the press; a right royal waiting list.”
Whether you find them tasteful or tacky, one thing is for sure, they won’t be available to buy for long. The Jubilee celebrations have whetted Brits’ appetites for royalty and come June, you can expect to see their rosy-cheeked smiles brightening gardens and flower beds everywhere.
The limited edition Royal Gnomes are available from selected B&Q stores from this week, priced at £12.98 each or £20 for the pair.
