Have you suffered from a mental illness but are controlling it? A Channel 4 are looking for people who have experienced mental health issues. The programme aims to tackle stigma and discrimination in the workplace. Yet many people with a mental health story successfully manage their conditions, have rounded lives, are high-performing and are not defined by it. It’s a great opportunity to raise awareness to a mainstream audience
They are looking for positive role models, people who have a history of mental health, are managing their condition and happy to talk about their experiences. We are looking for someone who, for example, has maybe suffered from OCD, bipolar, an eating disorder or depression and anxiety.
This issue is something that both Cineflix and Channel 4 take very seriously and so will be handled in a very responsible and matter-of-fact manner. We are looking for people who feel confident that they are in a position to be able to take part in the experience.
We are ideally looking for potential contributors who:
Are working or seeking work, as the programme is about stigma in the workplace.
Between the ages of 22-60 years of age (male or female)
Their current condition is stable/managing their condition.
The condition is not instantly recognisable/ obvious. So if they were meeting new people, one wouldn’t necessarily realise. The idea being 1 in 4 people have mental health issues and you wouldn’t necessarily know just by meeting them. Filming will take place over a number of days.
If you feel that you fit the bill and/or want to find out more then find out more by emailing mentalhealth@cineflix.com or call 020 3179 0097.
