The family's amazing story in Bella this week

When little Natalia – known as Natty for short – was born, her mum Hayley was shocked to discover she had Down’s Syndrome. First she almost died when she was born and again in hospital, where doctors discovered she had a heart problem.

Confesses Hayley, who has another daughter Mia with husband Bob: “Peering into the incubator I could see my daughter covered in tubes and wires.
“She was swollen and blotchy and I thought, ‘You’re not pretty. You don’t look like my baby.’ I couldn’t bear to see her face. I felt as if I’d produced an alien…”

They were difficult first days. But today things couldn’t be more different. Having had a hole in her heart repaired aged 2, Natty has come on in leaps and bounds. Today she is bright energetic little girl who adores her mainstream school.

Added to that she is also set to do some modelling! Natty’s first professional shoots begin in April when she will be modelling children’s clothes.

Says Hayley: “We didn’t think she’d survive and now she’s a model and making people smile wherever she goes. We feel so lucky to have her – and finally we get to share her beauty with everyone else.”

On the feature in Bella, Hayley said: “Bob bought five copies at 7am and by 8.45am our local shop had sold out! Natty went into school shouting ‘I, magazine. Look.’ It’s great!”

This is the second time the family’s story has appeared. Last month it featured in THE SUN NEWSPAPER. And we now have another national newspaper lined up as well as a TV chat show…
